If you like boating or not, chances are you have heard about Chris Craft. The history of Chris Craft is long, beginning with wooden boats that brought boating en masse to the families in the United States. As technology advanced in the boating industry, a new material called fiberglass was introduced and would forever change the boating industry. As its entry, Chris Craft offered one of its models, the Commander, "styled in fiberglass."

Not knowing how strong fiberglass was, Chris Craft made the boats with thick hulls - in some cases close to, if not more than a half inch thick. Compared with the boats made today, it is easy to see why the Commanders are still with us, and well respected in the boating community. Today the Commanders built between 1964 and 1972 are becoming an increasingly sought after boat - long outlasting the designers original expectations of 13 years. Not only were they built strong, they were beautifully designed as well. Today those designs, ranging from 19 feet to 60 feet, are unmistakeable on the water.

In 1968, the stylish 35 Commander made it's debut. In the four years following, less than 220 were produced out of Chris Craft's Holland, Michigan plant. On these pages, you'll learn about one of those 35 Commanders - "Maid for C."
